Saturday School for Artists

Established in 1922, Herron's Saturday School offers quality art instruction to youth from grades 1 to 12 and to adults who want to learn or improve their technical art and design skills, explore new art forms, and build a portfolio.

The instructors are competent junior and senior students who work under the guidance of faculty in Herron's art education program.

Classes are held from 1 to 4 p.m. for students in grades 5 through 12.

Urban Landscape Painting Workshop This outdoor pop-up workshop on the IUPUI campus teaches participants how to blend colors and translate visual observations into paintings. Situated between the historic districts and the city of Indianapolis, the campus offers rich visual subjects that lie alongside the city's urban landscape with natural features found in Military Park.

Haunted 3-D Printing Workshop Join us for a special spooky-themed workshop in Eskenazi Hall using MakerBot 3-D printers. Participants can learn the fundamentals of 3-D printing and how to use embellishing techniques to turn their objects into finished works. Choose from a selection of pre-designed haunted objects such as a skull-shaped planter, a pumpkin-shaped tea light candle holder or a witch hat ring cone. Enrollment is limited to a maximum of 10 participants to allow for physical distancing. More information and object options will be shared via email closer to the workshop date.
