Junior Keeper Camp

Wolf Park’s “Junior Keeper” camp provides a once in a lifetime experience for high schoolers aged 14-17 interested in pursuing a career in animal husbandry, wildlife research, or wildlife conservation. June 2024

No deadline for applications.

ExpID: 05131971

The two-day experience is designed to introduce students to a variety of pathways within the field of wildlife conservation and effectively prepare students for internships at wildlife organizations. Students will have opportunities to engage in daily keeper duties at Wolf Park, which can include feeding, creating and evaluating enrichment, studying animal behavior, participating in wildlife advocacy activities, viewing staff training sessions with our ambassador animals, and even training our ambassador animals themselves.

Wolf Park is 20 minutes from Lafayette and 15 minutes from Purdue University's campus (West Lafayette). We are about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Indianapolis and 2 1/2 hours from Chicago. There are plenty of hotels in the area to choose from, as well as several activities for families to do while they are here. Families can visit the Columbian Park Zoo, Prophetstown State Park, or Happy Hollow Park, to name a few. We do not provide a place to stay or transportation.
