Youth aged 10-18 learn-and-earn in this hands-on, entry-level course. Topics covered include:

  • Tool identification, use, and safety

  • Fixing a flat

  • Cleaning and lubricating a chain

  • Parts identification

  • Riding Safely on the Road in a Group

  • Inquiry based project learning

We focus on identifying strengths, creative problem-solving, persistence to improve, and empathy. Weather permitting, the course includes group rides to help connect the city and culminates in a hands-on test. By demonstrating they have learned the skills we teach in class, youth earn the bike they have been working on, a helmet, lock, light and the status of Green Apron.
